Why 31 Days of Discipline??
The word discipline and I are not on good terms. We are fair weather friends at best. Discipline seeks to bring me in line, set up boundaries and prepare me...while I struggle to break free from it's restrictions, discomforts and requirements. At times the very whisper of the word makes me cringe. I know that I need it, I know that I lack it, yet the very thought of committing to seeking it makes me want to run away.
Yet, it is time for me to grow up. It is time for me to stop struggling with the foolish things of my youth, and grow up in righteousness.....I know that this requires discipline.
So, here I am.....seeking to spend the next 31 days, looking at discipline in every aspect of my life. Just committing to write 31 days of posts is a discipline I feel like I am not ready for. However, I know God is calling me deeper into a life characterized by discipline.....spiritual disciplines, physical disciplines, financial discipline, and emotional discipline.
In light of that I hope that you will join me over the next 31 days as I peer into the new world of a life characterized by discipline.
Father, I pray that you would build into my heart a desire for discipline. I pray that you would keep me accountable and that in seeking to live a disciplined life, that I would find more of You. I pray that you would renew my mind with truth as I embark on this endeavor, and that you would use my journey to encourage those around me to pursue You more fully. I pray that in writing about discipline, You season my words with grace. I pray that in seeking to live a more disciplined life that I would not grow proud, but that my heart, mind, words and deeds would seek to bring you the greater glory!

I look forward to your 31 days series. I've always struggled in the area of discipline.
